iPod Why Does This Happen?? Very Odd!!!

Hello,

I was recently given a link to Youtube from a friend that plays the piano and I wanted to take the audio source from the video and convert it to MP3 format so that I could play it on my Ipod Touch. I used a Mac program called iextractmp3 to convert the Flv file over to MP3(after downloading the video from Youtube) and it appeared to work.....however on playing the file in iTunes what was originally a 3 minute song has now turned into a 25 minute long song which repeats itself several times and the strange thing is that the file size is no bigger as you would expect with a 25 min mp3 track.

Any ideas?

Why not just snip the track (set start and end points, and then right click » Convert to AAC/Mp3)?

Hi,

Can this be done in iTunes? I have used a program called Fission to see if I can edit it to it's normal length but upon loading the file up it appears to be normal size(3.20) long in Fission...it appears that iTunes has a problem with the file and it's making it bigger than what it is even though the files size is normal.

Just noticed something.....the file has an audio bitrate of 8? Most of my other mp3 files are around 64 and I'm sure this has something to do with it.

just do this.

go to the youtube video. hit CMD-OPT-A, find the youtube activity page, double click the biggest file there, the videos are the only ones with MBs of information. Then after that has downloaded, it may need the extension, FLV at the end to be added, it may not. Make sure it has that extension.

Then open it up with quicktime, with perian installed of course, then export it to wave format. You keep the good quality, and strip the video, then add it to iTunes and convert it.

It may sound like a lot of steps. but it is very simple.

Hi,

I managed to find another way around which is much easier in my case. I used the create mp3 version option under the advanced tab in iTunes and it automatically changed the file from a 25 min long file to it's original track size that's 3:35 secs long.
