Ask Apple
If its soooo amazing and all, why does Apple not use it to show off its products (e.g. Airport, Mac Pro, iMac MacBook Pros...)? They do plenty of advertising on TV and the Internet already, so it seems using iAd would be a logical decision.

Perhaps they know its ineffectual and don't want to waste their resources on it?

Most of their TV advertising is for the iPhone. iAds only currently display on the iPhone. Advertising a product to people who already own it (and no-one else) may well be a definition of pointlessness.

Is guess that the vast majority of iPhone owners are also Windows users too. There may be a benefit if it could check what machine you're using to sync with.

If its syncing with Windows iTunes, display the ads! :p

One would think that iPhone/iPod Touch users are more likely be open to buying other Apple products, such as an iMac or MacMini.

Perhaps they thought: If we put ads for our products on the iPhone, what would the most important group of people in the world, that is the MacRumors posters, think about it and what would they write? What you would write is of course "nobody wants to pay for adverts, Apple must be desperate, nobody wants their products, that's why they have to advertise, bla bla bla".
