I am an Android convert, although in reality I am not convinced that I want to stay with Apple products. I have downloaded Google apps, thinking that I would get the same performance that I experienced from the app on my Android device. For instance, the Google Maps app on my iPad is limited to one route with no option for changing the route. I compared that to the results that I get from the Google Maps app on Android and my Windows machine. The results on my iPad are limited in scope - there is only one route shown and no option for changing it. I have noticed similar limitations on other apps from third party vendors. I am beginning to wonder if Apple is afraid of competition. This is probably the last iPad I will ever own. Thanks for reading my rant.

You might take aim at Google and not Apple.

Google apparently reduced the functionality on iOS to make Android appear better. It’s not a function of iOS, but Google having to do shady things to make their toy OS seem good.

Exactly this, and the same goes for the YouTube app on iOS… Still no guaranteed picture in picture and this is down to Google not Apple.

Nothing wrong (ahem) with Android if that is what you find more suitable for your own uses.

Suggesting that Apple 'doesn't allow innovation' is ridiculous, however.

Go with what you enjoy the most and don't look back.
