I'm wondering if there is a way to configure my iPhone (running iOS 5) to delete emails when I delete them in the Mail app on my MacBook. I am constantly using both to use email and sometimes delete an email on my MacBook but it still shows up on my iPhone, even after it updates the email server.

You need to supply details on the type of email account you have and how your clients are set up. If you have a POP account (or if you have an account that you're accessing via POP) that behavior is expected. POP accounts don't sync. Without details we're just guessing.

Both my university email and gmail are IMAP on my MacBook. Not sure what they are on my phone. How would I find out? I'm using my university's exchange account if that matters at all
