I are in the process of testing iPods and iPads for use during a nighttime inspection process. One of the main uses will be to take pictures inside a van trailer used by a LTL common carrier. These pictures will be primarily taken during the night inside of dark trailers. Does anyone know why the iPad does not have a camera flash built in like the iPod? The device will be used to view shipping information on that particular shipment and the extra screen real estate of the iPad would really help but only the iPod has a flash. My company wants us to consider the Surface by Microsoft but the programmers want us to stay with Apple vs Android or Windows. Does anyone know of a flash attachment that would allow us to use the iPad instead?

Thanks in advance

our goal is to be able to scan a barcode attached to that shipment and then take pictures which will be tagged by that shipments pro or freight bill number. then the application will bring up the shipping info on this particular shipment and allowing us to review the specific info for this shipment. That is where the additional screen size of the iPad would come in handy. We do not want to deploy a device that will require any type of monthly fee such as a phone.

I'm not aware of a flash attachment for an iPad. It may be time to test the workflow using a flashlight. There may be a clip on type that could be attached to the top maybe?

thank you.... I appreciate your research and suggestion... I will continue to review this process

Or maybe an iPod touch? You said you wanted a big screen so this may not be an option, but the Touch has a LED flash, and no monthly fee. :D

Because its already silly enough to have a camera on an 8 inch tablet, let alone the 9.6 one.

I would rather go for Ipad mini without rear camera but like 60 usd cheaper. I never use camera on my Ipad anyway.

Yes, but the question is, if you HAD to use the iPad at night to take pictures, what are your options?

That's very arrogant of you. We don't care how you use your iPad, but there are plenty of people who would like a flash on theirs. Maybe when you grow up you'll realize that not everyone is exactly like you (luckily).

U made it out to be such a serious issue. I am surprised.

Anyway, i hope im not like you too who seem to do not have much life beside playing with his/her own tablet :)

Don't worry, you're not. I don't think the world should revolve around me, and I'm grown up enough to realize that a flash on the iPad would really come in handy for a lot of people, me included. :D

I thought you were complaining about why Apple doesn't support Adobe Flash on iOS.

Maybe it would shine too brightly on the color gamut.
