Why don't Android Wear devices have LED notification?

As the title says. We know Apple will never integrate an LED notification into their iDevices because they can just claim ignorance and that the Apple Watch is for enhanced notifications.

But why don't Android smartwatches come with one? The screen is off, therefore when I get a notification, I should be able to customize an LED to save battery and ignore meaningless notifications that I am receiving. I'm kind of upset by this. Actually, I would probably have a Moto 360 by now (gorgeous) if there was an LED notification light.
 
Might have something to do with battery management?

But the option of an LED might come in the future. Maybe a glowing crown on the side.

Would be very useful. And could be made to look really cool on a watch.

Why would you want an LED on a wearable? Just leave the screen on clock and set the unit to vibrate. It's a watch and the battery lasts all day anyway. Once you feel it vibrate just check what it is you're being notified about.

Not sure I follow your logic.

I have one on my Martian Notifier. Only blinks for a few seconds when I get a notification though.
 
my screen is on all the time. i dont need led to show norifications. sw2 has a transflective display. i think i wouldnt want anything to blink on my wrist until i turn it off or so...
 
I personally wouldn't want it but also, considering the watch is strapped to your wrist, why do you need it? It makes sense on a phone that you may have put down or are charging and it's not on you but why would you miss a notification if you're always wearing the watch? That's actually the point of the smart watch, isn't it, to avoid missed notifications?

And if you do take it off once or twice a day, is it really that difficult to have just turn on the screen to check for new notifications?

For me, the point of the watch is to be able to somewhat discretely check my notification--don't want a blinking light drawing attention to my watch from others and thus why a quick vibration works much better. Also, it's hard enough right now for OEMs to produce a watch that isn't gigantic with good battery life--don't need them trying to add even more hardware that will further drain battery, however little an LED would affect it.
 
Agree with this. One of the great features of android wear is that the screen can be always on, albeit dimmed, so you can see notifications just by glancing.
 
I think it because as soon as you move the watch to look at it, the screen lights up and you would see your notifications anyway.
 
That's actually a great idea, but I think it's not that useful if the watch screen is on all the time (it is, right?).
 
I don't think an led on a watch would be a good idea, but the OP got me wondering - how about if you could customise the vibration characteristics depending on nature of notification? Wouldn't even need to lift your wrist to decide if a notification is currently worth attending to.

This would be good. The problem with the LG watch is that the vibration is so weak. Hopefully future wear watches will improve on this.
