Why don't Apple adress the whine issue?

I've been wondering this for some time now. The whine disappears when running Windows, and is consistent when running OSX.
By the use of mere logic this tells me the whine is a software issue, or can be dealt with and removed by the use of software.

So why aren't Apple doing anything, when a software update is so greatly needed?

I'm pretty sure that the consensus is that the whine comes from the DC converter when the Core Duo is making *low* power demands. Is this right? So Windows is preventing the moo purely by keeping the processor throttled up. For instance, someone posted a thread stating that on a Dell Core Duo, the whine appears as soon as the processor throttles down due to unplugging the computer and running on battery. And also with the fact that the moo does not happen on desktops?

Keeping the processor throttled I guess is technically a "solution," but it's hardly the one that should go and be implemented in the OS, is it? Windows is just benefitting from having older power management technology.

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that this issue is going to be hard for the industry to resolve. But I really want to see it happen.

i was thinking the same thing, when i use windows the whine is gone!

but then again when i use windows to play games, it still moos.
