so i was thinking once again how great would it be to get a sirius app in the app store. and i was really thinking. than it hit me. this will never happen.

if sirius made an iphone app to allow you listen to there radio than people like me would cancel our $13 service and downgrade to the $3 internet only option. i mean the channels i listen to are all offered online so im not missing out on the channels they dont offer.

I dont think sirius wants to justify this behavior. so we may be hoping that safari will include flash support to listen there.

than again xm offers mobile phone use so maybe if we get a merger.

thoughts? ideas?

Windows Mobile has more than one Sirius app and they've been available for years. You might need a jailbroken phone to use it, but there will be a Sirius app. I'd bet a paycheck on it.

It doesn't have to be an official app to work. There are (at least) two un-official Sirius apps for Mac. I imagine we'll see an iPhone one too eventually.

I can't see Apple approving this. Out of every thing that can hurt music sales on iTunes wouldn't you think satellite radio on an iPod/iPhone could do it?

Don't be so negative. You're killing my hopes.

If they add a "buy from iTunes" for each song played, i'm sure it would get pushed to the front of the line.

I still say there is a good chance.

Dont lose hope, there's already a very cool Sirius app for jailbroken 1gen iPhones. I'm sure when the 3g gets jailbroken we will see a Sirius app soon afterwards. Screw apple, sometimes u have to take matters into your own hands and look out for number one.

The $3 option is for Sirius subscribers who want the better quality internet radio. So canceling your subscription won't work.

Um, you might want to look at his post again. He was essentially asking why it's any different in terms of "streaming music that could dig into iTunes sales", not in terms of content.

Reading FTW!

I agree. uSirius and Simplify Media's streaming service are the only two things that I really miss when I had a jailbroken phone. The uSirius app was surprisingly stable and well designed given it's beta status.
