Right after the “most creative one” of Apple was launch, the internet users have created funny photos to ridicule this.

heh

although technically they wouldn't be able to use OSX as the OS, because it is designed to be fully touchable.

However, they half-assed the iPad OS, and didn't make it an independent device. No reason they couldn't make updates available through it's own OS, with no activation. Seriously... activation? WTF apple!

The majority of news reports all say it looks cool, but not worth buying. Apple stock dropped 3.5% after the announcement lmao

The internet is honestly amazingly foolish.

I for one had no interest whatsoever in a desktop OS tablet.

Components would have cost more, machine would have been thicker, heavier and likely prone to overheating. You'd be running a desktop OS that was fundamentally designed for a keyboard and mouse, but you're using a finger (read: the failure of other tablet PCs).

And the worst part? It would cost enormously more than the iPad. The baseline ModBook Pro (the current "Mac tablet" which Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has a decent handle in) retails for a bit over $3,000.

And again, that runs a desktop OS made for fine-clicking mice. Try to click that X? Good luck. That smell menu? Keep trying.

Now you have the iPad. Thinner, lighter, fundamentally simpler with an operating system designed precisely for your finger, engineered to be the best for that. And what's the best part? It costs $500, a sixth of the ModBook Pro.

What's my point? Give them a ModBook Pro with an authentic Apple logo on it, you get people laughing at the price, and it gets MacBook Air syndrome in that it's an extreme niche product. People laugh and say why would I want a $3,000 computer like that, I can get a less tacky, gimmicky Mac Pro for that! Hahaha!

But now, we have a $500 one. Engineered for your finger and infinitely more portable than even the MBA. If it's only a big iPod touch is the only complaint… Perfect. I'll buy it, before I wouldn't. It has its flaws, but for $500, I can't imagine them producing better (maybe a camera, front-facing).

This will be like the iPhone. Too expensive, too limited apparently but becomes a run away success.

Shouldn't this thread be titled "Why I hate...Apple products my company has zero chance of competing against"
