In a word... @#$%$#$

My wife is to Kindles like most people here are to Apple stuff. Her birthday is the 23rd, and the new Kindle Voyage releases tomorrow the 21st. I paid BB for pre-order, used a gift card which means they've had my $, and paid for expedited shipping so that I'd have it tomorrow.

If you go try to place a pre-order even now you can have it in a couple days time (supposedly)

Yeah. They're telling me now possibly delivered by the end of November. Possibly.

So much for her birthday present. Clowns.

Price match;)

This. They match pretty much any major online retailer: Amazon (if shipped and sold by them), newegg, tigerdirect, etc.

I can always find stuff cheaper online (most the time) used / open box. Ive purchased a few open box items from BestBuy for heavy heavy discount.

I always find great open box items. Just picked up an open box moto 360 in excellent condition (I do not even think it was opened) for $199.

Also, if you buy a lot of products it is easy to earn Elite Plus status and get a 45 day return window.

That does suck OP. Get your wife something else for her birthday and keep the Kindle to give to her for Christmas.

Having worked at Best Buy some years ago, I wish I could say your experience is out of the norm, however it's pretty common. I can't believe they have stayed in business this long. I'm sorry to hear that.

I had a black AT&T Note 4 on pre-order and they didn't get enough of them on launch day.

I called and asked about white, which they were selling to anyone. They had one left, which I agreed to take, but refused to hold it for me, for any amount of time.

The next day when I came in a Samsung rep was able to find a white Note 4 for me so I said I would take it... either swap for my black or cancel and I'd get the white. So I did so.

Today I get an email that my black Note 4 is in. So, apparently, my preorder was neither swapped for white nor cancelled. Plus, I got a $50 gift card for preordering, after putting down a $50 for the phone. I used the $50 GC when paying for the white Note 4 but now that I have checked I was not credited the $50 that I put down. Surely they did not mean you put down $50 for preording and lost it, replaced with the GC?

Looks like I will have to go in to clear this up... Ugh.

The $50 you put down basically went towards the phone you now currently have in your possession. That GC is in fact your downpayment.

I had suspected that. I was hoping the gift card was just that, a gift, and that my $50 still went to the phone.

Oh well, I really can't complain. I did get the $200 gift card for the trade-in. That trade-in was an original iPhone, vintage 2007. Yep, they took it when the value was zero at AT&T or anywhere else. I was prepared to either buy a cheap phone to trade in or just say to heck with it and use my existing Note 2.

I am thinking I might want black instead of the white I have now so might go in and swap it.

Thanks. I got her one this morning (Launch Day). And happily cancelled the BB order. Hey, that's $200 less they're making this quarter.

Best Buy really should just stop taking pre orders. They do not have an actual system in place to guarantee pre orders outside of video games.

It wasn't easy! I had that since the iPhone came out. Alas with battery life measured in minutes and with 2G not likely to be supported much longer I made the decision to let it go. Well, for $200! ;)

It made up for how much I paid for it back in 2007. I paid $600 and had to agree to a two year contract with AT&T. I got $100 back in an Apple gift card when Apple lowered the price of the iPhone a few months after its release. So this last $200 brought my outlay down to $300. Not bad for a device that changed everything as far as smartphones are concerned and that I used daily for two years (and as a backup phone for another two years or so).

Sounds just like me. I remember waiting for hours, paying the $600, and getting the $100 back. My battery is shot on mine too, but I just cannot let it go :)

Where do you guys find stuff cheaper? Couple of years ago it was easier to find cheaper stuff on Newegg and Amazon, but lately when price matching I've been pretty happy with BB. I recently got a Laser printer that retailed for $400, amazon had it for $250 and BB had it for $219. Forget about Newegg, they are in many cases more expensive than BB these days. Even buying appliances I did my homework and BB was the cheapest. Plus you get the rewards, and you get to haggle with the manager who took off a hefty amount of our appliances cost over and above them being the cheapest we found.

I hate BB because I buy stuff and its already been opened and used/returned. Bought a clock radio and it was returned and sold as new.

Look for big sales online. I recently bought a sound bar that cost $699 regularly, and newegg had it for $199. Best buy matched it.

These days I also love sites like slickdeals. Oddly enough most of the deals I've gotten off of slickdeals have been off major brick and mortar places like BB. I recently got a 64gb Asus vivotab note for under $200, IMO easily the nicest 8" windows tablet out there, and this was with staples price match + 10% deal. Dell also has crazy deals very often, especially off their outlet.
