Does anyone know why Apple would be attending the biggest gaming event at E3 next week?

honestly i think they're just gonna show how well PC games run on the intel Macs to gain more users. Or possibly introduce the Macbook....but that wouldnt make much sense....But I doubt Apple is there to introduce iGame.

Is E3 exclusively about games? Could it also be an appropriate expo for demoing consumer-oriented music/movie software and services (i.e. iTunes/iLife) ?

Does anyone know if they've attended previously?

Releasing the Macbook, duhh!

That would be nice- I can't wait to buy one! :D

Maybe it has a seperate video card and could be marketed as a gaming notebook.

That would be a very nice feature that I would like to see Apple implement in their MacBook Pros- the MacBook being a consumer (vs pro) machine would most likely not receive such a feature. :)

Hmmm... some kind of Apple game console might actually make me into game consoles... More than likely they are just going to show off bootcamp to all the hardcore gamers.

(Perhaps macs will be bundled with the game "computer tycoon" that is basically the story of steve's life:p )

Just because they are attending the show, doesn't mean they will have a presence on the floor. They might be there to talk to game developers/publishers. Frankly I wouldn't expect them to have a booth with equipment at this event.

My guess would be they have leased a conference room or something to meet with clients and vendors.

Maybe they are teaming up with Nintendo...the new Nintendo Wii logo looks very Apple-ish...as does the DS Lite stuff...

yep.

If my memory serves me correctly, they've go every year. They haven't introduced anything big there yet, so I wouldn't hold my breath this year.

Having been to five of the last eight E3 shows, I have never seen Apple on the show floor. According to the E3 website, Apple only has a meeting room. I suspect they have always had a meeting room handy to meet with game developers and peripheral manufacturers. Apple won't be on the show floor.
