why are the aTV2s going for as high as 170.00!!!? something i am missing???

That's pretty cheap. I sold about 20 at $180-195 each.

And why? Because people don't want to jailbreak, tether, etc themselves. I sell mine with all software installed, all plugins configured. And where else are you going to find ATV2 with older, jailbroken firmware?

Also, even if one is savvy enough to jailbreak on their own, you can't (yet) jailbreak the new ATV3's, so obtaining the now-discontinued ATV2 will cost more...

Glad I got mine just before the refresh! :p

Forgot to add. People on eBay like to make money. eBay charges about $1 to list an item, and about 10% of total cost as their cut. In addition, there's packing materials, shipping with tracking, etc.

So, even if I am to sell ATV2 and make no profit at all, I would have to charge about $120 for it.

IT's call Supply/Demand ....

As long as people buy them for that price....they will sell for that price.

People want Jailbroken (jailbrakbale at some point in the past) devices..

Not jailbroken

They are still going for $170 or Apple TV V2. But the aren't jailbroken. Some of them are still sealed, but still I don't see why someone would pay that kind of money for an outdated product that ISNT jailbroken. ATV3 jailbreak is available now. It doesn't make sense. I am just trying to wrap my head around it.

Because the firmware is one that has a working untethered jailbreak for it.

Since when? The only ATV3 jailbreaks I've heard of are scam sites.

It's the last statement really.

Pretty sure he was asking why people were willing to pay that price. If they weren't there would be none offered regardless of what ebay charges.

ATV3 Jailbreak is NOT available yet, and some people still want the old firmware on those sealed devices thinking they can still jailbreak them.
