It's so annoying, after apple released iCloud, every ****ing company in the world put "cloud' somewhere in their products name!!! WTFFF!!!

Probably because in network diagrams (Visio) the Internet has traditionally been represented as a cloud. Thus the industry picked up on it and started marketing the name to represent their Internet storage/streaming services.

Actually, Apple is very late jumping on the cloud. They're at the back of the pack.

Wikipedia

....The underlying concept of cloud computing dates back to the 1960s....The actual term "cloud" borrows from telephony in that telecommunications companies...

Looks like with a simple search you would have discovered that Apple didn't "invent" the Cloud and it has been around a while.

Did u actually stop and think that apple is the one that put cloud into their service and not that everybody copied it after apple magically released it? cloud has been out for a while. Not everything revolves around Apple and apple is one of the last ones taken to the cloud :)

You are 100 percent wrong on this one. Not only has other companies/services referred to their online storage or other online services as the cloud, they did it years ahead of apple.

Nice try though.

The "cloud" concept has been around a lot longer than when Apple released iCloud. Not everything starts and ends with Apple. :)

Like many others (a recent one claimed that no one used screen protectors before the iPhone), you're confusing noticing something after Apple does it with the notion that Apple did it first. As stated above, that's clearly not the case and something you could have easily discovered yourself. The term cloud with this usage existed long before Apple ever released iCloud.

Why would it annoy you anyway? Are you going to claim that you invented the cloud as well?

Like numerous people here have been saying... cloud based products have been around for a really long time. I have been using Dropbox for years now... way before iCloud even existed. It's not something to go nuts about, though, but you clearly don't agree with me on that.

You've got it all wrong. The term "Cloud" has been around for a long time and was used by others longer before Apple did. As already mentioned Apple are actually late to the party and if anything have copied others.

Based on the number of service outages and bugs iCloud has experienced, it's almost like they invented the entire concept of cloud computing.

Too bad they're 10 years late and still haven't managed to master basic things like uptime, even despite having numerous successful examples to copy.

10 years late? What was iTools?

Well it certainly sounds better then 'serverstoragecenterinaremotearea'. The whole cloud idea is a bit misleading, though.

OP you clearly know nothing about computers. The term cloud computing has been thrown around quite a lot for more than a decade. The term gained a fair amount of visibility with Apple among the average consumer, then you made a nice rant on how Apple invented yet another thing .
