Why is InDesign so slow on my 27" iMac 3.06GHz??

At work, when I open my InDesign files on a Dual 2GHz G5, they open in seconds. On my home computer, they literally open 3 to 4 minutes. They also take the same amount of time to save! Urgh!

While the file is opening, I do a Force Quit, and I get the message that InDesign is "not responding."

Is there some file that I can trash in order to . . . I guess reset the application? Sorta like emptying the cache on my browser?

Also, is the file or program stored on a network location?

Yes, Totally legit. My employer bought an extra license in order for me to install CS3 on my home computer.

CS3 is not stored on a network or external disc. It was installed on the iMac's hard drive.

I'm using InDesign 5.0.4

You could try deleting preferences.

Hold down keys: Shift + Option + Command + Control. Start up InDesign.
Select Yes when the dialogue box pops up asking you to delete preferences.

Yah because cracked software, sometimes the recompiled files are not exactly streamlined.

CS3 isn't officially supported on Snow Leopard, that's all the advice I have to offer... Sorry!

As it's legit, try calling Adobe support or visit their tech forums?

I take it you're running Snow Leopard? CS3 is not supported by Adobe on Snow Leopard, with some reports saying that InDesign is the most problematic.

Does it still run slow with documents you create on that machine? Even simple ones?
What font management utility do you use?
How many fonts do you have that are activated?
Are all the fonts free from corruption?

Okay, I removed the Suitcase Plugin, restarted InDesign, and that did the trick! Thanks guys!

For the record, CS3 works fine on Snow Leopard. Support by Adobe or not, doesn't make a difference.

CS3 is far faster than clucky ol' CS4 on SL.
