Over time, my internet connection has gotten slower with the same set up. So I decided to create a new user and wouldn't you know it, pages load faster and overall internet speed is higher, especially streaming video.

Does anyone know what causes this? I'd like to continue using the original user account without having to reinstall the OS.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
did you try to clear the caches in Firefox or Reset safari ?

That's what it was. I had already done so, but thanks anyway!

But that was only partly the solution. Streaming video was still an issue. So I also used additional tips I found at http://www.macattorney.com/ts.html specifically Cache Out X, Preferential Treatment and Yasu. It recommends to use iDefrag for disk defragmentation, but I haven't done so yet after discovering that my main User account was back to full speed.

I use Firefox, so I backed everything up (bookmarks, preferences, etc) using the amazing FEBE add-on. What an awesome utility!
