Hello guys,

I wonder, why is iPhone X thicker than iPhone 8? OLED is meant to be thinner, there is no home button etc. and battery is pretty much the same so what is making the iPhone X actually thicker?

I'm still on iPhone 6 but when I picked the iPhone X I was surprised by how much thicker it actually feels and yet its packed with this technology that is meant to be thinner. I'm confused

iPhone 6 has headphone jack, home button etc. and yet its still thinner.
Whats causing the thickness, then?

Larger CMOS sensor size requires more depth.

iPhone X TrueDepth module thickness = 4.95 mm
iPhone 8 front camera thickness = 4.4 mm

iPhone X enclosure = 7.7 mm
iPhone 8 enclosure = 7.3 mm
