I am unfortunately one of the many MBP owners who had their notebook arrive with a defective battery that does not hold a charge and thus ends up shutting off if not plugged into the AC adaptor at all times.

SO I called Apple Tech Support back on May 8th to report this and request a replacement battery be sent to me. The initial result was that it would arrive at my home in 3-5 business days.

When it didn't, I called again and was told "i'm sorry, it could actually take up to SEVEN business days" so I waited a few more days.

On the SIXTH business day, I was told it STILL has not been sent and they would put in some sort of Request for Expedited Service so I should call back in TWO business days to check on the updated status.

Yesterday I called to check on the updated status and GUESS WHAT...It STILL has not been shipped out.

Someone please explain to me WHY it takes so frickin long to send a battery to me yet they expect me to send it back to them right away for fear of being charged otherwise? And NO, it's not on backorder because every person I've spoken to says they have some in stock.

Do you have an AppleStore nearby? Call AppleCare, ask for your case number, and find out/demand if you can pick one up at the store.

i had the same prob on a MBP i bought at Duty free in the airport, about to go on holiday.

Exactly the same symptons except that as I was away i couldnt do anything about it.(or I wasnt about to start a 20 hr frustrating chat with Apple, that would lead me to have a Thrombosis, whilst on Holiday) When I got back none of this companies normal stores could swop it as they had no stock. I could have posted the whole unit back to the airport store but I couldnt be arsed. I just got a refund and let them have it back. Shame as it was nice, but later that day I found out that they just had a speed bump.
Ill get another later maybe.

Update:

Called today and the wonderful people at Apple told me it was being shipped on the 26th...WTF!

Tried calling my local Apple store but they were out of stock and the authorized reseller across the street from my office had some in stock but would not do anything for me in swapping faulty for new.

I got mine with no problems, although I had to jump through some hoops to get them to be convinced it was a batter problem. Hope yours comes soon, near the end, I only got a few mins of battery life.

Update #2:

Someone at APPLE has their lines crossed because lo and behold, the battery showed up by DHL this morning.

Ridiculous but hey, at least it finally got here after all my bitching to them (I wonder which angry phone call got them off their arses and sent it out *grin*).
