I love everything (mostly) about my macs and Yosemite, but the iTunes app has become the thing I hate most about apple. I'm a big consumer on music from the iTunes Store and Over the past few years I have encounters so many issues. Here are just a few of the things that drive me crazy:

1. Automatic sync over wifi never ever worked (for me). Supposedly, both my iPad and iPhone are supposed to sync to my Macs everytime they're plugged to power and connected to wifi. It never ever happen to me, I tried so much for the awesome feature to work, but it simply does not work.

2. iTunes never has the correct apps that I have on my idevices, there's this strange feature that shows you all the app that you have on ur idevices (just like it does with music, movies..) but it never has the right apps, it shows either apps that I've deleted in the past (and that are no longer present) or is missing new apps that I've download.

3. I don't know if this is actually a feature that iTunes offers, and if it's not, it really should be: if I make a playlist on my phone or Mac or wtv, it doesn't show up on my other devices automaticly. This really sucks because I love making nice playlists and like(or would like) having them synced to the cloud..but they don't.

4. Never understood why when I raise the volume on iTunes app, it's not increasing the volume on the entire Mac (not too good at explaining). So sometimes I raise the volume to max and I then realize that the volume of the iTunes app is still low....I don't know if people prefer it that way, but I hate it.

5. Genius playlists never works!!!!!!

I could go on and on... I Always thought that apple cared alot about music but I don't know why they're not fixing these types of things. I'm sure iTunes is much better the the Google store crap and I'm still and will forever continue using iTunes and its store, but they're so many things not working on it, missing key features which is driving me nuts...They integrate iCloud almost everywhere, but I don't understand why they're not using it a lot with the music app... Like sharing ur playlist over the cloud would honestly make my life. Or when you delete a hard copy of a song on ur iPad, it also deletes it on ur phones...

Do you guys think they could put out a new "Music" app like they did with photos????

Sorry for the long rant and for my crappy English.

Yes
Apple spun off books from iTunes.
Now they just need to spin off videos, Apps, Podcasts, and syncing to iDevices.
The App could keep radio (streaming + internet).
Specialized stores for each media type?
One master syncing App, or a sync service for each new media App?
Huge job, probably not easily back-compatible with older iOS.
People would complain at least as much as they do now.

iTunes is simply of a relic of times that have passed. I never thought a music subscription service was a good idea, I railed against the idea because I never thought that a subscription service had the selection of music that I would listen to. But you know what? I've changed my tune a bit, Spotify and Rdio have a pretty damn wide selection of music.

Over time I plug my iPhone/iPad into my Mac less and less, actually I don't remember the last time I plugged those devices into my Mac. Why do I have to? To sync, I guess.

Aside from iTunes becoming bloated as hell, it also is based on the idea that you keep your music on your computer. Your one, lone computer. But we don't anymore.

It happened fast, really fast! But iTunes is simply becoming outdated.

iTunes is suffering from feature bloat and years of overall neglect. That is why I use iTunes 4. Back when iTunes was nothing but a simple music player/organizer without all the iOS stuff that later creeped in.

I think you mean the setting ‘Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases’. That’s for iTunes Store content only, not the App Store. The apps you see on your Mac are the apps you ether downloaded directly or synced from one of your devices. When you delete an app on your device, it won’t be deleted from your Mac. Your Mac is essentially a separate app library, like your music library is.

iTunes is indeed notoriously absent from iCloud. It only limited to music purchases. I agree that this feature should be there.

Why not? You can change the volume on many separate apps (e.g. Spotify), even websites like YouTube. This is an intentional feature. I always leave iTunes at max volume and only use the volume keys, it works like I want it to work.

I agree that Apple needs to make some big changes to iTunes, it’s just not funny anymore. iTunes is still between letting go of vintage features and incorporating cloud features, with a clunky iPhone management and aggravatingly slow iTunes Store. Ideally, the App Store should perhaps be merged together with the Mac App Store.

Yes they do, but you need iTunes Match for that to work. Sometimes it is nice having different playlists. I don't want my workout playlist on my desktop. With iTunes Match, I have my playlist everywhere.
