Hi all,

Im just wondering what the hell is taking so long on Apple's part to fix Mobile Me I mean seriously they have soooo much money.

The problems I keep encountering are to do with iDisk. Like right now I was uploadinga 7Mb file and when it gets to 100% it says finnishing upload and just hangs.

Come on Apple jebus its been nearly a year or something!

P.s. sorry just needed to let out some steam

I'm sure they are getting to make the upload speeds faster somehow.

They have had a lot of time but it is still a challenging new service for them to work with. And they have a lot of users, so that probably doesn't help much.

Its not that its slow that's the problem it just simply DOES NOT work.

This is what I keep getting and its starting to get really really annoying. This service is not free after all nor is it in beta nor is it new.

i have to be honest i have had a few problems, although nothing like that. i have found the service very slow sometimes when syncing with iPhoto libraries. but i just hate it when using the web app (ie me.com) and when you click on a download, and it doesnt bloody download. you just wait there for ages constantly clicking. and its not as if i dont give it enough time. i give it at least 10 seconds per click, until it works.

luckily since i use mail.app instead, and find it very easy and quick to use. its ok, never the less the web app they said would be 'amazing' and in their minds the best, but it just isnt. a few versions of hotmail ago (if that makes sense) was very good and i liked that (considering it was free).

still, it only cost something like £35 for a family pack when buying through educational store in an apple store

No. Please do not defend Apple is this case. They have every resource needed to make Mobile Me into the exceptional service that we're already paying for...yet they haven't done it. I just can't give a company with such wherewithal any excuses. I mean, does anybody really believe that the company that created the iPhone can't figure out how to increase upload speeds do its own damn servers??? C'mon. Remember, they set the bar so high...not us.

Not to take any fire from that post, but you know that apple just contracts (rents?) servers from hosting companies right?

I love Apple and all I mean It all started with an iPod Video( Black 30GB ) that I bought years back. I was amazed at how good the iPod was. Years later I had enough of Vista and I got a 24" iMac and I adoooooore it like no other object before, I clean it every day  ( Have had it since July 2008 ).

Just last saturday I bought an iPhone 3G ( 16GB black ) because my old LG Viewty died. The iPhone is more than a phone its a ultra ultra portable computer that can make phone calls.

MobileMe ( the web client ) looks really good and the MobileMe stuff in the iLife applications are really well integrated. It's just that the functionality on some things are really poor. I don't expect this from the company which brought me such amazing things such as the iPod, iMac, OS X & iPhone.

I guess what I'm saying is that the way Apple dealt and deals with MobileMe doesn't fit in with the rest of its operations!

I want MobileMe to have its current functions working 100%. They need to apply the same amount of dedication as they do to the rest of their products!

Every company sets priorities for the products it produces.

.Mac/MobileMe has never appeared to have been a priority to Apple, and honestly, I doubt it ever will be.

Me works good for Me...

While not perfect, I am syncing 3 personal Mac's and my iPhone...

I have purchased a second MobileMe account and use that one in my business. We have a company iDisk where we share files for 5 of our office Mac's as well as calendar, bookmarks and addressbook. This also keeps all of our iPhone's and Touch's synced and I am able to keep my service people apprised of service work that needs to be done for our customers...

Me is cheap when I look at what it does for me...

All and all it has worked for me since the transition and continues to improve. I know there are alternatives out there... Dropbox looks very interesting as does the google products.

Could Me improve? Sure it could and it will. There is always room for jello...

Considering not so long ago they purchased a 107,000 sq ft data centre, I doubt they're just renting dedicated servers for MobileMe. Akamai yes for stuff like iTunes downloads, but a data centre like that makes more sense for something like the son of .mac.

I've been trialling MobileMe for two weeks now, and after all I'd heard about the start of the service, I'm surprised at how well it's been working. Admittedly my use of iDisk has been light, but it's not something I really need. When it has been used, it's worked fine, however.

How about trying it from Mac OS instead of via the website?

MobileMe works great when you use it from your Mac. However this leaves the Mobile part of the service out if you can't really use the iDisk when your are... mobile?

Just turn on local iDisk and you have the contents of your iDisk with you at all times, with or without an internet connection... When you have a wifi connection again - any changes to your iDisk sync's up... Very mobile.

It always hangs, never fixed by Apple yet. Hopefully today? Right now MM is down for maintenance....

What I meant was using the webclient i.e. I am at another computer and I need to upload a file to my iDisk from that computer.

Mobile Me has been fixed since a week after launch. It works for 95% of users.

Are you using a web browser to upload? if so which?
Are you using the Finder?

This iDisk issue is covered on the Apple support page.

there is an issue with uploading problematic files. That particular mp3 is likely corrupt. Not enough to stop it from being played in iTunes, but that means nothing. Lemme guess, limewire?

It does it with all kinds of file types; images, music, text files etc. Yes that file is from Acquisition.

Im using right now Safari 4 but when that screenshot was taken I was using Safari 3.2.1, I also have the latest flash driver.

This has happened to me since the beginning of MobileMe it is very hit and miss. Sometimes restarting my Mac will allow the same file to get uploaded correctly.
