I had to cold-shutdown my Macbook Air M3 today running on Sonoma 14.6.1 recently. Now since then every time I close the lid, it is like it shuts down completely. Chrome asks me if I want to restore my tabs (that was not the case before). I always have to type my password instead of opening it with finger security. And during load, it is like as if restarted it entirely (taking more time and all).

I have tried so many how-tos but nothing is working. I can't see hibernation option in General or Battery nor I have ever changed anything there.

What could be the problem? I have updated the OS.

I would make a new, vanilla test user account, do a proper restart and log only into that new account. If the issue doesn't recur, it's likely something in your user account going awry. If it DOES recur, it's something in the system or possibly a hardware issue.

I did create another User...it was the same. Today though all the sudden, it asked to be restored from time machine backup, reinstall etc. I chose reinstall but nothing appears to have changed even though it had reinstalled.
