Hello

I’m not sure why but my macbook internet has been slow lately. It’s normally on par with my ipad or a little slower but it’s not normally this slow.

It’s getting 90 KB/s download speed right now for a video game update and on Ookla only around 1 to 2 Mbps whereas my iPad gets more than 50 Mbps

it’s all the same wifi connection and in the same location

One thing to check as well: In case you are connected via 2,4 GHz WiFi, the performance drop can be a result of Bluetooth accessories or USB 3.0 devices interfering with the signal.
Easy to test by temporarily disabling Bluetooth and disconnecting all external devices/cables.

1. Do you have combined (2.4, 5 and 6 GhZ) or separate SSIDs?

2. Which router are you using?

3. Separate the SSIDs by frequency and compare the results

I am using 5 GhZ I don’t know what separate SSIDs means.

Thanks I tried this but it doesn’t help. I’ve been using the same setup for months and it was fine Until recently?

In your router configuration there is normally an option to configure just one SSID for all frequencies. Supposedly your device will pick the "best" one but this doesn't always happen. The other option is to have separate SSIDs for each frequency. If your router shows that the device is connected via 5 GHz then this likely isn't an issue.
