Trying to figure out if I have a setting I’m missing, but recently, when I read and delete emails on my phone, they still show up as unread on my iPP. This is a fairly recent problem, as they have always deleted on both in the past.

Is there maybe a change since recent updates that I need to make, or is this just gonna be the way it is going forward?

Which email provider? And if not iCloud, what protocol are you using?

If you're using POP then your email is localized to each device (email is downloaded to whatever device checks for email first). If one device gets your email, all the others will never see it.

I use IMAP on all my email accounts (except for iCloud, which I can't control). That leaves email on the providers servers so all devices sync.

Yahoo, and honestly, I’m not sure about the other part, but I do know I normally see my mail on both my phone and iPad, and up until recently, if I read or deleted it from the phone, it wouldn’t show as unread on my iPad, but now it shows as a new email on the iPad even if it’s been read and deleted from phone.

It could be another issue but you need to determine the protocol on both. The current default setup for Yahoo in iOS is IMAP but it can be done as POP3 manually…and I'm not sure when the IMAP default was implemented. So if you once set up the account as POP3 and through time have just restored devices from backups it would still be POP3.

If you delete the account from both devices and then add it back you'll know that both are IMAP. Take into consideration that what you see at the Yahoo mail website will then be exactly what you get on a device when you add it now.
