I checked the About …. iOS 15

The software update is listed as …. iOS 15.

Not 15.anything.

The version the 13 came with was 345, the current ios 15 version is 346. You do need to update. I did when I activated the phone yesterday. Tap on the ios 15 in Settings/About and you will see the version number.

hmm... The "346" is part of the build number (19A346), and does not indicate a version number change.
You should see that build number after tapping on the 15.0 in that About pane.

Correct, but all the 13 phones came with 19A345. That’s why his phone is showing an update available. Everyone had to update their new phones when they activated them Friday. Apparently he did not

nope, the update request came the next day.

I went ahead and updated ...

Yeah, that's what it showed me. Nothing about Music update and clicking on the link just took one to Apple's generic security webpage.

I didn’t get a request either but all the Apple related sources had been reporting that the 13s would not arrive with the current software version, you can look at the posts on these forums and others, that’s why I updated after the phone was activated. Anyway if you updated youre good except for being able to enable “Unlock With Apple Watch”, if you have one. That will have to come in another update.

The update fixes the Pegasus exploit, as the version on the early 13’s was before the exploit was reported to Apple.
