Why Is Safari Such A Fail?

I've used it through so many version of MacOS over the past 5 years and Safari is still a beachballing failure - slows down over time, starts beachballing and sometimes it takes a full reboot to fix it. Chrome doesn't do that.

So many versions and updates and yet Safari is still totally subpar. Its as embarrassing as Apple Maps was... except Safari still suffers from the same old problems. Sierra - another beachballing Safari. 10 versions of Safari and still its such a fail.

What in the world are you doing in Safari that causes beachballing? I've been on OS X since Mavericks, and now macOS on Sierra, and I've yet to see beachballing more than once. I'm using a Mac mini, 2012 base model, and it could be that I run a content blocker to avoid ads and I don't allow videos.

I do have beachballing issue with Safari. Opera never shows this behavior.

Wow, I had a lot o beachballing on Yosemite, so I downgrade it... no beachballing on Moutain Lion nor in EL Cap.
Maps does not work at all on EL Cap. but I enjoyed too much the system to upgrade it...

What you described is Chrome.

My 50 cents. Safari on Yosemite and El Capitan do beachball sometimes. And it slows down dramatically after a while. A reboot is necessary. Plus it freezes suddenly on certain sites, let's say adult sites for the most part. But the integration in Apple ecosystem is so vast and well executed that I wouldn't trade it for Chrome or Firefox.

Install Safari Technology Preview, fixed all the beachballing for me.

Then Safari is indeed snappier

You guessed wrong. I have beachballing in Safari also. I'm not complaining about it. Doesn't last that long, and seems that I can usually click through it, that is, click while the beach ball is visible. It just goes away.

Hello, I'd like to try that out but I'm happy as can be with El Capitan and no Safari Technology Preview for EC. Maybe I should not be so stubborn and upgrade to Sierra...

I do not have any of the issues described here, have not for years. I prefer Safari for its aggressive energy and memory management. I am very satisfied with its performance since Yosemite.

Ditto, sometime ago, Chrome was better on Mac, but Safari caught up and surpassed. In addition, across apple devices I sync passwords which I find invaluable and Safari on the iOS (Phone and iPad) is really the only browser worth using. I do use ABP as the only extension I have installed.

No significant problems across 3 very different Macs here - 2007 iMac, 2011 Air, 2015 rMB. I very, very occasionally get a beachball in Safari, but compared to my extensive Chrome, Firefox, Opera, IE, and Edge experience, Safari has been by far the most stable browser I've ever used.
