So, today I was creating a slide show from some pics in iphoto and during that time the fan was on and quite loud almost the entire time! Seems little strange tome and the bottom got very warm. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

Nope, and I've worked on a few PowerPoint presentations on mine. Did you have much else going on while you were building the deck?
--just internet going in parallel..
The only time my fans have come on (audible) is playing Plant vs Zombies for a couple of hours.
Hmm...Right now I have Google Chrome open with 8 tabs, iChat, Preview, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Communicator and I just opened a new ppt presentation and started inserting large jpegs in and doing some editing within powerpoint. No fan, no heat.
How long were you working on the presentation and what were you doing beyond inserting pics?
Have a look at Activity Monitor ( Applications / Utilities / ) and select All Processes and sort by CPU to see what the culprit may be.
image below uses sorting by CPU as an example
**everything is fine except my iphoto is at 150% CPU (as im putting together a slide show).....
