Its to make the mac look better. Its not an actual laptop but a photoshop to represent the "generic" pc laptop.

Notice the exaggerated bezel with rubber screw tops, the huge hinges, and the massive feet. Also the off center trackpad. All to make the macbook look better.

Its marketing 101.

It's a Dell Latitude, D series. We have those at school sleeping in laptop carts.
