Just curious as to why the proximity sensor is always active when screen is on. I can understand why this would be needed on a call, but not regular usage.

The attached video shows the small infra red proximity light to the left of the mic.


 
How about updating the iOS to the latest version? Mine is in 13.3, no such problem.
 
Noticed the proximity sensor still remains on with iOS 18 and newer devices. Guess it’s normal.
