Why is TouchID Requiring authentication immediately? and no other setting than "immediately"?

Why is TouchID on iOS10 Requiring authentication immediately? and no other setting than "immediately" in the settings menu? i find this very annoying to have to authenticate every single time i want to unlock my phone

Apple probably sees TouchID to be quick and simple enough to use when needed that to make things more secure that's the only option the offer. I'm not really saying that's the best thing or anything like that, just probably how they see it and why it is that way. It's been like that for years now since TouchID was introduced, as I recall.

Its not just an iOS 10 thing. Started with iOS 7 and iPhone 5s.

Not true, iOS 9 had control over that feature to select 5 minutes etc etc

Its not just an iOS 10 thing. Started with iOS 7 and iPhone 5s.

Once again, not true, I had that feature selected to not ask for authorization every time and do it only after 5 minutes or so of inactivity on iOS9

I still have iOS 9 and with TouchID enabled only "immediately" option is available. And it was like that before iOS 9 too. There have been threads and articles about it as well for quite a while now (well before iOS 9 even):

Nope, not true. Any iOS device that has Touch ID enabled is required to have it set to immediately. You sure you are not thinking about auto-lock?
