All Devices Why isn’t the “Hidden” album in the Photos app lockable?

It’s so ridiculous that the Photos app doesn’t have the option to make the “Hidden” folder private or lockable.

Because of this stupid oversight, I’ve always kept private or sensitive photos in my Notes app because we actually *can* lock notes.

However, I just learned that any note containing videos or audio *cannot* be locked or made private.

It clearly addresses a whole in the market I guess; Unless such offerings already exist. Though it is still janky compared to native support, since it'd have to be importing into the app then deleting from Photos.

It's always been like this. Apple is a family-friendly company, and doesn't seem to be inclined to allow people to use their iOS devices to keep "secrets." Which is why, after having basically pioneered (and nearly perfected?) biometric security for mobile devices, we still cannot lock apps natively, or truly hide+secure pictures, notes, or texts, etc.

There are plenty of apps that do this...but I'm with OP...The step of allowing photos in the standard stream to be hidden in a folder is nice, but having the folder password protected would be even nicer.

I always wanted that feature for years, but Apple never gave it to us, i had no choice to use dropbox for that!
Works quite well.

I think it's because locking with a passcode or biometrics might lead the user to assume the photos are encrypted, when they're not. Hiding a photo is just that; hiding it. There's no real protection for the photos.

I use the hide function to remove anything I wouldn't want someone to randomly see while I'm browsing my photo library. I don't use it to store sensitive personal data that would cause harm if it got out. For that I stick to encrypted disk images on my Mac.

So...not necessarily speaking for myself, but some people (like you) don't want anyone randomly seeing some pics as they swipe through the "all pics" folder...but also, some of those people don't want other people who may have access to their phone to see those pictures as well by having enough time to look in the hidden folder. Just sayin'...that one extra layer of protection doesn't seem difficult and would be nice...for some people...

The photos are encrypted actually. The whole disk is encrypted with the passcode of the device

Doubt that's the reason because Apple doesn't feel that Notes is confusing
