I don't understand why Apple hasn't made a concerted effort to have an app out for this year's playoffs. I don't watch TV, but I would gladly pay a small nominal fee (free is great as well) to be able to view the games on iPad.

I just don't see why a device this gorgeous and magical hasn't broken into that market.

One can only hope there is one come the Finals.

Is there one for the iPhone/iPod Touch? I know last year there was an NBA League Pass type of app.

You should direct your question to the NBA and ABC/ESPN. Apple provides the platform and App Store, but it doesn't supply the content.

Why would Apple have anything to do with it? You can watch games on espn3.com or through TNT Overdrive through nba.com. Unfortunately, both require flash.

hmm

Have you tried NBA Gametime Courtside?

I use it for the playoffs, and I think that app is utterly amazing.

NBA Courtside is a good app and all, but I want to be able to see the entire game, not just clips and recaps.

Maybe next season.

Apple don't create apps that allow you to watch sports games. You will need to look at apps from another developer. The ESPN Sports Centre (I think that's what it is called) allows you to watch highlights of lots of different sports.

Dude... we don't even have Facebook for iPad yet.

Maybe there's some sort of integration that'll come with 4.0, so they're just holding off. That's the only thing I can think of that makes any sense. If not, it's absolutely ridiculous that there's not a native app out for iPad yet.

I know Apple themselves doesn't make the app. I would assume they could pressure one of the NBA developers to put out an app, especially during this time of the year. It would do much to promote the device. However, I understand it is a little much to ask since the iPad is still very much in its infancy.

Hopefully next season the ball will already be rolling, and the magic will commence.

There are already too many video player Apps. Can't we just have one and within it select the channel that we want to watch?

This would be doable correct?

I dont get the connection. I dont see why Apple would care if there was an app for that or not. they have no stake in the NBA and would have no reason to "Pressure" anyone for it. Unless, ole Steve jobs bought the Lakers and no one told me.

You mention it would be good promotion for the device, Have you checked local stock lately? or looked at any number of threads on here about "where can i get an iPad?"," any stock in NYC?"

I dont think Apple "needs" any promotion on this device, it is doing quite well on its own.

BTW, if it is so important to you, why not download the SDK and develop the app yourself? My dad always said, "dont come to me with a problem unless you are willing to be part of the solution....."

I hate hoe the NBA, for some reason, changes the rules of basketball at the pro level. I coached middle school and high school for 10 years and I hate that NBA teams can't play whatever defense they want. It takes away from the team aspect of the game. I prefer college basketball to NBA, and would prefer an app for that.
