Hi, I missed the sale of some apps in Black Friday. So far, there is no sign on any sale in Christmas or Boxing Day. How did it work the last few years? Will they lower the prices on December 26?

Why? Because Black Friday/Cyber Monday is when the Sales happen. We can still see some discounts during the Holidays, but definitely not as much. I hope you get what you wait for! I am waiting for some digital courses to drop prices, but it doesn't seem like they will 😭 Let's see what does Santa have in store for us tomorrow 🎅

Not sure about how it was during the last few years though ~ Sorry

Thanks. I cannot find LumaFusion, Goodnote 5 (paid for Goodnote 4 but haven't used it for over a year. Just noticed that those who passed the deadline for free upgrade have to pay again to get version 5) and Things 3 in the list. When will be the next chance?

It’s very difficult to say as we can’t predict the future for these devs, however history would point to it being very very rare that either GoodNotes or Things will go on sale.

GoodNotes 5 was recently discounted for 3 days for the first time since it’s launch in Jan 2019 which wasn’t to do with Black Friday but rather them being opportunistic around backlash Notability was getting at the time regarding its move to subscription. They didn’t have a sale later in the month for Black Friday.

Things was also discounted for the first time since 2019 on Black Friday. Maybe they’d do it again, but I honestly see it’s as unlikely over Christmas and I wouldn’t necessarily bet they would do a sale for next years Black Friday even given they didn’t in 2020.

No idea about LumaFusion, but those other two certainly haven’t had frequent sales the past few years.

I went to the app store from my iPad. It says today is December 26 but there is no mention about Boxing Day Sale.

Because the holiday season is not good for apps. I saw a 30% drop in downloads during the holidays.

How come?
Well, for 'productivity' apps, many users use it for work, or studies. Since people take days off, they download less.
At least that's my interpretation, I have no proof, but no alternative explanation as well.
All I know is that some fellow developers tend to observe the same trend for apps that tend to be used for work.

I waited and waited, no discount at all from Christmas to New Year. On the other hand, tones of games were on sale. Perhaps people prefer to play during the holiday.
