The only difference as far as I can see is a smaller SSD. Why did Apple not include the option for those?

Edit: perhaps I was a bit brash. I suspect there are a number of reasons for this. Temperature, margins, and control over how many models they have to build probably all factored in.

Yeah that sucks.. There could easily have been a i7 option for the 128GB 13". Heat has nothing to do with it. Greed for bigger margins has.

Because Apple want you to pay more if you want the i7. Instead of being able to get the cheapest and pay a BTO fee you have to get the more expensive model of each range.
