I just noticed that none of the Superdrive options for MBP or MB or PB or iBooks can burn dual layer DVD's. Is that because dual layer isn't useful?

Also do you have to flip the disc over to burn on both sides or is it dual layer without flipping the disc over?

All but the low end Macbook have double layer superdrives, the first Macbook pro's did not have it because there were no drives that were thin enough, but know they all do. and double layer disks have two layers on the same side, so you do not have to flip it over, you can get double sided disks that you do have to flip over though and that may be what you are talking about.

Just so you know, the last PowerBook G4 15" and 17" machines (Rev. D) could burn dual layer DVDs. And these are dual-layer, not double-sided, so no flipping.
