Why no volume control on lock screen (iOS 16.3)?

So, in iOS 14 and 15, there are two sliders on playing media on the lock screen (Volume and Scrubbing). In iOS 16, that went away, and I'm kind of upset. it was super convenient for when I don't have the time to unlock my phone using FaceID or use the volume buttons. Anyone know why it went away?

During the announcement of iOS 16 they said they focused on letting the wallpaper show through (hence lowering notifications to the bottom). There are volume buttons, volume in control center, as well as possible volume control on connected headphones and speakers, and even Siri... so they probably decided it was unnecessary.

I guess I just got so used to using it, it really bothers me that it’s not there any more.
