I love using Windows Hello on my Surface Pro, and work Surface Laptop so much that I got a webcam that supports it for my desktop at home. I don't get why Mac's and MacBooks don't have both. Let the person use either they wish to, or both. Yes the finger print works fine but being right handed I open my laptop with my right hand. In cases like this my Surface Laptop sees me and logs me in before my hand has even come back down to the keyboard.

It’ll come with a re-design next year.

My guess is that a new camera system would drive the price up. They use the $999 price point for all it´s worth with the Air.

My guess would be that Face ID will debut in the higher price pro models next year, maybe with the redesigned iMac.

I’ve no doubt it will happen as part of the two years transition, but this is just the first step.

I had hoped for the same improvements at launch, but its not as simple as that.

I feel like that's the same excuse they use for why they still use 720P.

Well what’s Microsoft’s excuse for using a processor that is less than half as fast as fast in single core speed than the new Air?

Kidding. Kind of.

But it’s still a valid excuse at least until they do a redesign. An iPhone or iPad with Face ID is much thicker than the lid of a MacBook. I doubt the Windows implementation is anywhere near as secure and probably use much less hardware.

Ironically there is a great portion of iPhone users that want the Touch ID instead of Face ID.

1. So many laptop users now cover their cam because, well, internet.
2. They could put scan device on the base.

Or, it could be what I’ve suspected all along, when something becomes hugely popular with other companies, Apple is like, nah. Lol.

The lid of the MacBook isn't thick enough to contain the sensors...yet.
This is what I said but all I got in response was "they could easily fit it in there!". No, they couldn't. If they could, it would've been done already.

If this is true, though, then there should be FaceID coming to the iMac, otherwise what's the excuse there?
