I see a lot of people concerned about HD/SSD space. Why not use something like this? It's small and bus-powered and you can get it up to 500GB, Firewire400, USB, etc.

You are using it on a desk most of the time so I don't see it as a real problem with HD space.

I would be more interested in upgrading the RAM or a faster CPU. You can't get an external of either. If the MPA can be upgraded to 4GB and 2.4GHz, I would get one as a second laptop.

Or one of these with FW800.

One of the benefits of a larger internal HD is that it is one less thing to carry with you when you are on the go.

Edit: Missed the MBA part. This drive is still great as it has FW800/400 and USB 2.0. So you can have the benefit of FW800 when connecting it to other Macs and USB 2.0 with the MBA. As is stated below, the MBA only has one USB connector, so that is another issue to consider.

Sure go ahead

Hope you're talking about the MBA here.

Remember, MBA has only 1 USB port. If you use that up to connect your USB drive, you've got no flexibility to attach any other USB peripheral. If you say you'll carry a USB hub, so be it. But agian, you're lugging along too many peripherals, and defeats the purpose of having an MBA.

Extra HDD/SSD space is definitely welcome, but is not a deal-breaker to the "target owners" of the MBA.

Why would you want a MBA with 2.4 GHz?? It would still downclock itself to 800 mhz in order to not overheat lol
