It's eBay. Not only can absolutely anything be sold there (with the exceptions laid down by its staff), but absolutely anything can go for absolutely any price in accordance with the Theory of Indeterminacy, which states that people as an institution are idiots.

it happens frequently that idiots bid higher than retail price on old stuff at ebay.

it happens surprisingly often with apple computers. but that are often scam bidders from nigeria.

higher than retail prize bids on special parts are mostly just lazy idiots who are glad they found the part they need and they don't bother checking the web for a price comparison. this behaviour is often supported by ridiculous "buy it now" prices.

ebay was a good place. now it's just bad.....

The bidders over $100 have 0-26 feedbacks. Probably comic books or socks for $1... It'll most likely be relisted in a week. ebay ain't what it used to be.

Probably some idiots thinking they are bidding on a computer, not the superdrive. But who knows?
