The features I want are the Apple Intelligence features they discussed at WWDC last year and flogged to death in their ads last fall. Things like personal context and app intents. They need to deliver on their past promises. Until they do I will consider anything everything they show off as 1000% vaporware.
We already have iOS 26 beta so we know what's actually in there or not, it's not like we have to wait for the final release. I think this time they were more careful not to announce hypothetical features coming so far in advance.

Flat-out lying is different from overly optimistic. They expected to release all those features, but as a company that wants to make a big splash and sell a lot of hardware, Apple went crazy too soon.

One year of missing software goals doesn't make it a track record. They pretty much always delivered on promised features sooner or later. No need to get too emotional. Apple seems to have learned from their mistake last year and chose not to make any promises they can't keep this time around.

Because I WANT to be excited, but Apple burned us all last year.

In that case, I’d be paying attention this year and handling the betas the same way you traditionally did prior to last year.

I highly doubt they are going to allow a repeat of last year’s debacle by promising a bunch of stuff that they won’t be delivering until “later”

The only thing I can think of that is supposedly coming “later this year” that isn’t in there at all yet are the features in question from last year.

So far, what they showed in todays video as new for this year appears to be there but I’m just starting to use iOS 26 with iPadOS 26 and VisionOS 26 installing so I haven’t checked it all out yet.

There could and probably is stuff that isn’t there yet. With it being the first developer beta I also don’t expect that just because it’s there that somehow means it’s going to work. It’s the first developer beta. There will be plenty of issues, bugs and stuff that doesn’t work yet. That goes without saying.

Good for you.

This is a clear representation of people who only care about the Keynote of WWDC. They don’t care about new APIs, all sessions introducing new technologies, or the sample codes showing how those new things work. They watched a developer conference, downloaded developer beta software, and began complaining "Apple is next Nokia".

Given Apple's track record, who the hell even knows whether ANY of the features Apple showed today are actually going to be delivered? Apple flat out LIED to us a year ago both at WWDC and in their marketing. They've lost all credibility.
There’s always one in the crowd hoping to be seen and heard.

The question, “why should I care for any of this” is subjective and only the OP can answer it for themself. I, for one, would not stick around if I was this unhappy. You don’t have to be ecstatic about every new feature but should be able to accept the overall product. Some people just need to complain though as it’s their nature. Life is too short.

@parseckadet you've been waiting months to write this post. No matter what they introduced yesterday you would have still posted this. Admit it.
What I've been waiting for, for many years now, is a version of Siri that isn't dumb as rocks. That was promised to us last year. That promise was a lie. We're still stuck with a version of Siri that fails at the most basic queries like "What month is it?"

Then don't. Why are you asking anyone else and why would we be here to change you're mind?

Attn Mods, please delete or lock this thread. It’s posted out of pure emotion and to incite pointless argument that will ultimately lead to the irritation of other forum members. OP has clearly made up their mind and there is zero reason to further engage with them fanning the flames.
