Not everyone's gone crazy.

The honeymoon is over before the marriage. Oh, there'll be touch screen virgins who'll be excited for a while to come, but the love-at-first-sight has had time to cool for more mature heads.
The first rift in the lovefest was the WWDC no-SDK announcement.
Now too much time has passed without Apple or AT&T filling in essential gaps in knowledge.
This has given everyone time to start really thinking what it is they want from a converged device, and what they're willing to give up for a device that's weak in some critical areas.
I don't know who's behind the lack of information, but it reminds me of how all the networks took such a hit on their big shows this past year, by having long boring breaks between episodes. In hindsight, a huge mistake for them. For Apple, perhaps something similar.
Don't get me wrong. After working with touchscreen handhelds for so many years, some of it very iPhone-like, I'm the first to be glad of its high profile. And I love its style, for the most part. Just think Apple has goofed up, big time, especially with the network choice.
