A while back we were given circumstantial evidence for a Mountain Lion release tomorrow. However, there have been no confirmations whatsoever. What could be going on?

It'll get here when it gets here. Apple doesn't leak when they're going to release something before they release it, other than a general estimate.

well apple originally said Mountain Lion will be available in the Summer, they have sense said available in July sounds like they gave enough info to expect it this week or early next week

We can be seeing ML tomorrow if all the rumors are true...which by looking at how the Apple Stores will be open past midnight tonight (probably setting up for Mountain Lion) it seems a STRONG possibility that tomorrow will be ML's release date.

Nothing, we didn't get it a year ago for Lion either - the release date was confirmed by Apple a day before release. As a rule of thumb, Apple doesn't confirm or discuss rumors at all. It reveals thing when they want to.

Just like all the multiple release date threads, there will be multiple threads, at least 24 of them (one for each time zone), announcing ML is available. Then 24 threads complaining how long downloads are taking. Then threads about clean installs versus upgrades and which is better. Then how do I get the free update. Oh, then threads about whether GM is really exactly the same as what was released.
