Hi everyone,

I’ve been wanting to get a “cheap” iPhone for my work number. I thought with the new iPhone SEs being released that the older model would get some discount, but everywhere I look they’re still at full price brand new.

I’m thinking of buying a “renewed” one, but even those are being sold at high prices.

Maybe I’m better off just getting a 2022 model. But considering I don’t use my work number often (only for the occasional calls and texts with bosses), I don’t know if the cost is worth it.

And no… My job won’t reimburse me for the new phone, despite giving me the SIM card and needing to put it on a phone that my job didn’t supply.

I got 2 of the 2020 ones at walmart for $199 each outright. They had to be used on the AT&T network for 6 months though - I am using a $30 a month prepaid plan for each and plan to swap back to mint once I can get the phones unlocked.

Because the 2022 SE is set at a higher price instead of the same $399, so I’m sure some retailers have not adjusted the original price. You probably have to look into used or carrier version to get it for less.

If it’s any consolation for you, in my country, the Apple authorized resellers are putting the base 2020 SE on “sale” for $420. Yes, the discounted price of the old SE is equal to the MSRP of the new SE.

Just get a burner flip phone? It's like $50-100. It's not even traceable or a blue bubble from the boss to see if you read his message.

Depends on the carrier. My mom uses Straight Talk. I got her an SE for $99.
