I mentioned this earlier but thought it was worth bringing up again. If no stock clock app is included with the iPad there will be no way of setting alarms that can run in the background. I routinely use my iPhone as an alarm clock and as a timer and was planning on doing so with the iPad. Also how would you even go about setting the time on your iPad if theres no clock app?? There are many nice clock apps on the App Store but none of them give you these features and I do not see why Apple would not include one from the start.

Same as you do with the iPhone now, via the Settings app. :)
Lol alright well fair enough, I seem to always forget that's how you actually set the time and not through the World Clock settings on the clock app. But my other points are still valid!

Why wouldn't you continue to use your iPhone for setting clock.app alarms as you have always done?
My iPhone is slowly coming to an end.. The vibrate occasionally goes out and the speakers are definitely nothing to brag about anymore, its only a matter of time until it wont be loud enough to wake me up. I'm holding out on getting a new phone until the 4g comes out so I'd like a replacement. Sure I could use an actual alarm clock but I would still like to use the iPad for alarms seeing as it will probably be pretty close to my bed at night.

I get that. Can you set alarms using the calendar.app? I guess it's speculation right now, but on OSX and iPhone the calendar can be set to play a sound as a reminder/alarm.

And I think it's worth pointing out that Apple has never indicated that a clock.app would ship with this product...? Tho I can see the reason you'd hope for one. Maybe we'll be surprised?

Since the ipad can use iphone apps, is there any way to get the iphone clock or stock apps on a ipad?

I'm guessing if you jailbreak the ipad it would be possible, but could you somehow do it without jailbreaking?

That certainly raises an interesting question. It would have a lot to do with how iTunes is used to manage your app library between your iPad and iPhone/iPod touch. (For non-jailbroken devices.)
