Why the Knot

Science gets to the bottom of how cords and cables manage to tie themselves in knots, but offers no particularly useful advice on how to stop it from happening.

Its a pity that after so many years of aggravation, nothing can stop wires knotting behind my TV! Most things will be wireless by the time there's a "cure"...wireless chargers are already in prototype form, and more will come in due time

Lest you think knots are unworthy of serious study, I'll point out that Vaughan Jones studied knots and braids, and he is a Fields Medal winner, the equivalent of the Nobel prize for mathematics. I've heard him speak about his knot studies, and the topic is knot as simple as it might first seem. It turns out to have applications in areas such as biology, not just mathematics.

Make sure that your Ethernet cable isn't kinked or knotted, it could restrict the speed of the flooz from teh intertubes.
