Why the new devices aren’t shipped yet? Has the iPad Pro M1 production not started yet?

According to Kuo production was starting in mid April, so they just needed a bit of time to build up a bit of stock to fulfil the initial rush of orders. With component shortages and some shipping capacity issues the start of production was probably held back a bit compared to usual.

AirTags couldn't be delayed any further. It was originally slated for a 2020 launch. At $29 a pop (plus $29 loop), it's a license to print money.

The event included iPad Pro and iMac even though they weren't entirely ready for launch.

Most companies (Apple included) don't like to trickle out product, they want to ship a lot of them all at once. So we are waiting for Apple to think they have enough tablets manufactured and ready to go to make a big splash with lots of their biggest fans (the people who would get orders in the moment they opened up) getting one on the same day.

They also look at the preorders and see what models are in the most demand. Lets say they have 500K orders for the 1TB model but only 200K for the 2TB model they will focus production on the 1TB model (This is just an example). Preorders give companies a idea of the sales and how they need to align production.

They have a few of the new models ready to go, but they won't ship a few at at time, it wouldn't be cost effective. Plus, they not only need enough for Apple, they need to have a decent amount for third party sellers, like the cellular companies, to sell on launch day. They will build up stock, then ship in bulk.

I will say, it’s a bit odd that no reviewers have one yet. Makes one think that it’s still in pre-production, rather than a fully-fledged product.
