Just checked with Apple about my IPP 12.9 with 256 storage Wifi model, it is about CAD$300s. As for my older 2010 MBP 17", it is about CAD$200s. How come the resale value of IPP 12.9" is so poor? If it were better, I might just sell it and get a 2-1 Windows laptop.

Is it a first gen? Being 3 years old, is probably why.

Resale values of apple products is not what it used to be. People with the Stainless steel watches are finding that out the hard way.

Apple don’t give great trade-in values, much like any commercial entity. Selling privately is more hassle, but gives you more money.

No. IPP 12.9" 2017. I bought it around this June.

I must have been off my meds I totally missed that he wanted a trade in with Apple. That's why, Swappa, eBay or craigslist is the place that the OP needs to do. Apple definitely low balls you completely.
