no need for one as developers don't need access to it.
developers need access to iphone/ipad version to ensure apps run on iOS6, this is not applicsable for appletv.

As it's currently configured, updating the ATV to iOS 6 would cause users to lose the Youtube app currently available, and I don't think Apple will allow a third party app on the set-top box just yet.

I'm hoping that ATV stays on iOS 5 until they get that sorted out.

have you installed the current appletv iOS6 beta to confirm that?
it wasn't missing when i used it.

ATV2 iOS 6 Beta still has youtube on my install. Only issue mine has is when not using it, the power light flashes constantly rather than going off. I haven't installed the beta on my ATV3.

Beta, yet, gentlemen. We have no knowledge of what the final release will be.

Again, I'm hoping it is sorted out and we lose no functionality.

but you stated that it would be removed - that is a false statement as you don't know. all we know that it wasn't removed in the last beta that was made available.

I am taking my cues from final versions of iOS6 on other devices, not the beta version of iOS6 on AppleTV, admittedly.

iOS 6 Beta 4 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch removed the YouTube app. iOS 6 Beta 4 for Apple TV did not.

YouTube isn't going anywhere.

I think it's either not ready or they're holding it back because of new features that have yet to be announced.

If the latter, hopefully it will appear at the iPad mini announcement.
