I'm still looking for a used iPhone 5s, and i come across the 64gb version here and there. Is there any good reason why the 64gb was disco'd? Was there a problem with it? or even just minor issues the 16 or 32gb ones didn't have? I see you can still buy brand new 16 and 32's in the stores.

Also, is there any real need for that much storage on a phone? Does anyone actually use up that much gb, on a phone?

Just wondering if its worth it to pay a bit extra for one should i come across a decent deal... or just stick to the more common 16 or 32gb ones.

There's no problem with it, Apple just limits the memory choices for the (now) lower end phones. Right now the 5C is only available in an 8G model. They want to steer the power users toward the current generation phones.

Just wondering, is there really no way we can purchase brand new iPhone 5S 64GB(from Apple that is)?

anything smaller than the 32GB is just stupid. they shouldve axed the 16 and made all devices 32, 64, 128. these days, with all the apps, music and movies, you cant do crap with 16 gb.

It got replaced by the 64GB iPhone 6. Standard Apple procedure is to knock the previous top end product down the range and stop selling the higher end storage options when a replacement model launches.

Not everyone needs a complete media entertainment empire on their phone. I dont watch movies or TV on anything thats not massive and connected to an equally massive stereo, and i probably have a maximum of 3-4gb of music that i actually listen to.

Personally, i'd be more than fine with 16gb, but because i plan on taking a lot of videos i might hold out for a 32, though i think in 10 years of taking pictures and videos i've accumulated maybe 7gb in total there too.

I will never understand why everyone is so obsessed with seeing the world through a 3x5" screen. To me, the whole point is to use that phone to take pics or vids and download them at home onto something that i can actually enjoy.

The highest capacities will be harder to sell.

I have a 128GB Cellular Retina Mini that I tried to sell back in October. I was asking $500 and never got a bite. I had the ad running through Christmas and finally gave up. I would rather keep it then let it go for half of what I paid. Others dropped their prices to about $450 on the same models.

Same will go with the phones. With that in mind, I would never buy anything over 64GB again.

I got my 64GB 6+ delivered today. I could load it all up with music but I have iTunes Match and unlimited bandwidth plus, T-Mobile does not count music streaming for iTunes Match and other streaming services.

I love pictures. Taking pictures, selfies and whatever. I have plenty of space for that.

I could never live on 16GB. By the time I added apps, I was left with about 7GB of space. All my other phones are 32GB which is enough to go on for a long time.

Heh... my search narrows yet. So now i'm looking for a black 5s, with 32 or 64gb, that is new in box or so utterly next to new that i can verify it, that comes with everything, and is either unlocked or locked to one of the two carriers i'm likely to buy my pay as i go from anyways. Oh, and with budget limitations.

Piece of cake, right?

Given the things you've said here and on other threads about how you plan to use an iPhone, the 64 is overkill for you. If new from Apple (which will be unlocked if you pay full price) doesn't fit your budget, pick up a used, unlocked 32 GB in good shape--you *can* find them in excellent condition from honest people; you'd have a hard time being able to tell my now retired 2 year old iPhone 5 from new.

Unless you miraculously run across a perfect 64 GB for the same price as a 32, you're wasting your money. The 16 *might* be OK in your proposed use, but I suspect that you'll end up eventually expanding your usage beyond what you currently envision...most of us do. ;) I'm on my 3rd 16 GB iPad, with no music and no video, and this will be the last 16 GB device I own. Apps and Apple's own firmware are just getting too big, which means every couple of months I'm going through and purging stuff from that device just to stay a decent amount under full capacity. My 64 GB iPhone 6, on the other hand, is way more than I need. I wish they hadn't discontinued the 32 GB size.

The good news is that the black/slate grey models seem to outsell the white/silver and white/gold, so at least your color preference isn't working against you. :D

Yeah... that all sounds about right. Seems the used prices on 32s and 64s where i am are similar, both seem to sell randomly around $450-550 used ('BNIB'-used i mean). I'm torn between getting a new one on a dirt-cheap plan ($40/mo + $175) which will be a NEW phone, or chancing buying some 'honest' persons dropped but miraculously unmarred/dropped but fixed hand-off. Seems easy to tell a stolen one, if i meet the seller in a store, but damage is another thing. Very delicate things these iPhones... Yeah, everyone is 'honest' when selling stuff, but i'd wager far less than half are truly honest. Its a toss-up. Heh... i've hit up all my friends, two actually have grey 64's in nice shape, and i know these guys... but they wont sell dammit.

I wonder if you can get a new 32gb on one ov those dirt cheap plans...

So i just went down to Future Shop to see about a brand new 32gb with a plan, and now they tell me THOSE are disco'd too... sold out this week and unable to get more. Apple has whittled it down to the 16gb. I love Apple products... but their marketing and way of doing things is really dishonest. Used it is.

Got one... Took a lot of driving, but got the very last 32gb 5s in my whole damn town you can still buy new without going outright. Hopefully this does everything i need. Happy now, The idea of buying such a delicate piece used on craigslist was sketching me out...
