replaced a maxtor 160 today with seagate 250. both are uata
same enclosure (bytecc fw/usb) as before. same jumper settings (default cs). maxtor works flawlessly in this arrangement (ok, it's gonna die soon – that's why i replaced it.)

seagate DOES work on FW and directly connected to macbook via USB.
BUT – when connected to airport extreme "n" it is not recognized. re-tried maxtor drive - works fine, so problem is not with cables, airport, enclosure.

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!

called seagate – they make both drives (different chipsets). they say they can't offer any suggestions in a 3rd party enclosure.

the only other difference that might be of note: the maxtor is uata133 and the seagate is uata100. but i wouldn't think that would cause a problem.
