I chose "satellite" option on maps as that's what I want. Every time I then open maps next time it chooses the default view of "map".

Why won't it stay what option I chose?

I have wondered this as well. My area does not have 3D in Maps, so default view ("Map") does not have place settings for houses and buildings. It used to stick on last setting.

Ok at least it's not just me then, must be iOS 10. I can't remember if it stayed beforehand but if you say did then it's a bug presume.

I've reported to Apple could you to please?

My phone is stuck on boot screen after something with 10.1 and/or deleting Facebook (but 130mb of Facebook kept showing back up under storage), and my Mac is too old for Apple to allow current Itunes to restore iOS 10 while iOS 9 is too old for Apple to approve and let iTunes use it to restore.

Once I find a neighbor or somewhere other than Apple to restore iOS and then after I set it back up it I will check.

Oh no. Any Apple stores near could use that?

Anyway thought it was fixed but looks like not as tried again and doesn't stick at the choice after a while. Seems to when back and forward to it recently though?

Maybe its settings got corrupted. You could try trashing Maps then re-downloading it from the Store.

Didn't realise you could delete Maps, thought was built in. I'll try thanks.

Does yours not do this? Does it always keep the same setting view you've chosen?

You can "delete" most of the stock apps in iOS 10.

Well it WAS working...but after testing some more, you're right! The preference is lost. Actually since 9.something I have noticed that a couple of other apps randomly lose their settings. Could be a system-wide bug.
