Before the transition to Intel chips, hardware updates were
always motive for rumors and stuff. Of course, the same trend
still happens at full speed but why would Apple wait X months to announce
newer and faster CPUs when other companies are already selling
their models ?

Some people says is to avoid "self-canibalization" but no matter
what Apple decides to do, these are the street rules in the PC world.

I see many posts of anxious people looking for hardware releases at WWDC
but with faster update cycles, Apple will probably focus less on hardware
and emphasizes more at software/hardware integration, which it is what
distinguishes it from other companies AND operational systems.

What are your two cents ? :)

While I agree Apple will release more offten, I think they will stay cautios and more at a steady pace then intel's rapid and sometimes speratic launches.

Apple will always keep an eye on what they others are doing, but I don't think Jobs will be releasing new comps because Dell is releasing.
I think they will have more of a steady linear like pace for releases. Apple does and doesn't compete with others. Apple will keep on the ball of releases to be innovative, but when small minor releases with minimal increases occur before a huge inovation I think they will not be on the ball.

For example, (correct me if i'm wrong, I usually am) the yonah 2.33 was recently released mid june, begginning july. But no where has apple increased their computers for that. Why? Because its such a minimal increase it'd be a waste of inventory and effort. If merom wasn't comming/already announced then Apple might be using t he 2.33.

Hard to explain my thoughts...

IMO, I think ultimately we are going to lose some of the Macness that PPC users are used to with intel processors. They are going to change constantly, and Macs will begin to be 'out of date as soon as you buy them'. I know it isn't quite true, but you get what I mean...
